History
Cricket’s House was built as a memorial to Christopher
P. Walker, affectionately known as “Cricket”.
He was killed in an auto accident in January 2001. Although
Cricket is gone from our sight, his enthusiasm, his vigor,
his spirit and his generous heart surround us all.
He often spoke of building
a place, where children less fortunate than he, could find
a safe haven filled with love and caring. Cricket’s
parents and a group of his life-long friends formed a foundation
to carry out the dream he envisioned.
And thus on July 1, 2002
Cricket’s House was born – a home for abused
and at-risk children. The children are given food, clothing,
reassurance, stability and affection. A child can stay at
Cricket’s House as briefly as a few hours or several
weeks, depending on the family’s situation. Children’s
Crisis Center, and their team of miracle workers, operates
the program. They provide a secure, warm, home-like environment
for many beautiful children.
We
rely on the generosity of individuals to help us in our
fight against child abuse and neglect. Thank you for having
a special place in your heart for Cricket’s House.
